The Franchise
ABA basketball, back in Buffalo since 2022.
The Buffalo eXtreme were born in March 2022, when founders Darren Fenn and Glen Smith secured the rights to bring an American Basketball Association franchise back to Western New York — the region's fourth ABA team, following the Buffalo Sharks, Buffalo Blue Hawks, and WNY Thundersnow. Built as an extension of Fenn's XGen Elite basketball academy, the eXtreme play their home games at the XGen Elite Sports Complex in West Seneca.
The rise was immediate: a 15-4 debut, an 18-1 second season with division and region titles, and then the 2025-26 season — 20-0, a second straight region championship under first-year head coach Ryan Gallo, and a run to the national championship game. Along the way, Javon McCrea and Marcus Feagin earned ABA All-Star and All-ABA First Team honors, with Feagin leading the entire league in rebounding.
