BUFFALO EXTREME HIRES NEW HEAD COACH GOING INTO 2025 SEASON

Ryan Gallo Named Head Coach of Buffalo’s ABA Powerhouse Team

The Buffalo Extreme of the American Basketball Association (ABA) is excited to announce Ryan Gallo as Head Coach. After making the Final Four last season in only its second year, the Extreme is bringing on Coach Gallo in its quest to win the national championship this season.

A WNY native, Gallo is a former NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Player at Saint Bonaventure University, playing under legendary coach Jim Baron. Coach Gallo has impressive coaching credentials dating back to 1995 as a coaching intern at Saint Bonaventure under Head Coach Jim Baron, and Assistants Rob Lanier (Head Coach at Rice University), Joe Lombardi (Head Coach at IUP) and Brian Nash (Director of Basketball at IMG Academy). Most recently, in 2022 Coach Gallo led Saint Mary’s College Prep High School to the Monsignor Martin Conference Championship and the NYSCHSAA Class B State Championship as first year Head Coach (the program had one win the year prior to Gallo being named Head Coach). In 2023, he led them back to the NYSCHSAA Class B State Finals – and the school became Back-to-Back State Finalists for the first time in school history for Men’s Basketball. Gallo was then appointed to Associate Head Coach at Bryant & Stratton, guiding the Bobcats to a 2024 USCAA National Championship Final Four appearance.

Gallo has additionally worked as a collegiate scout for the Atlantic 10 tournament, under the direction of David Vanterpool (Assistant Coach with the Washington Wizards).
